FAQs

  • Where do I check in?

Check-in opens at 8:00 AM in the lobby of the Gerald McCormick Center at Chattanooga State. Look for the STEM for Her check-in tables where volunteers will greet you and provide your event materials.

  • What if I don’t know anyone?

No problem! STEM for Her is designed to be a welcoming environment where you’ll meet students with similar interests, connect with mentors, and explore STEM together. Icebreakers, hands-on activities, and engaging sessions will help you feel at ease right away!

  • Do I have to stay with my student?

A parent or guardian is required to stay on-site for the duration of the event. There will be a lounge area where you can relax, network, or explore STEM activities and booths while your student participates in sessions.

  • Can I switch my session the day of?

Session spots are assigned in advance and are first come, first served, so we cannot guarantee last-minute switches. However, if an activity has an open spot, check with a volunteer at the Front Desk to see if a change is possible.

  • What should I wear and bring?

Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes (especially for hands-on activities like woodworking or robotics). STEM-themed outfits are encouraged! Bring a notebook, pen, and water bottle if you’d like, but all materials for activities will be provided.

  • Will food and drinks be available?

Yes! A light breakfast, snacks, and beverages will be provided for students and attendees.

  • How does the STEM Passport work?

The STEM Passport is your guide for the day! As you complete activities and visit booths, you’ll collect stickers that count toward prize entries. Fill up your passport and return it to the designated drop-off area to be entered into the event prize giveaway!

  • How does the Decoding AI Challenge work?

Students will scan QR codes located throughout the event to access an interactive AI coding challenge. Complete the challenge for a chance to win prizes provided by The Ionado Group!

  • Is there a lost & found?

Yes! If you misplace something, visit the Front Desk at check-in, and we’ll do our best to assist you.

  • What happens if I have a question on-site?

Look for volunteers—they’ll be happy to assist you! You can also visit the Front Desk in the event lobby for any questions or concerns.
